Tom Sarych
Senior Vice Commander - Army

Tom Sarych served as a "citizen soldier” for 24 years, part of a legacy that has been an integral part of the United States military since 1775. Tom enlisted in the Army Reserve in 1987, and then earned his commission as an Officer in 1993 through ROTC at Mankato State University.
 
Tom earned his VFW eligibility by deploying to Afghanistan in 2004-2005, and Iraq in 2008-2009.
 
In Afghanistan, he served as a Company Commander with the 367th Combat Engineer Battalion, out of St Cloud, MN.
 
In Iraq, Tom deployed with a team of Engineer Officers and Senior NCO’s, stationed at the Victory Base Complex, near Bagdad. He served as a Construction Officer working under the command of the 18th Airborne Corps and I Corps.
 
Tom retired from the Army Reserves in 2011 with the rank of Major and has been a Life Member of the VFW since 2005.
 
Additionally, Tom is a retired State Trooper, having served 26 years
with the Minnesota State Patrol.
